Saw Great Soe, 33, came to Mae La camp from the Tavoy/Dawei area in Burma/Myanmar in 1996 and studied in the camp up to 10th Grade. After working for five years as a teacher and four years as a data assistant, he became manager for warehouse number five.

“I am happy with my position and my responsibilities, because I am able to help my community and provide service during the ration distribution every month,” he says.

About the future he says: “To be honest, I  plan to go to a third country. I have already applied for Australia. But I don’t know yet whether I can go. Until then I will keep on working. I don’t want to go back to my homeland, because I do not trust the situation now and in the future.’’
