On October 3rd, we celebrate the recognition bestowed upon Sally Thompson, the former Executive Director of TBC, by his Majesty King Charles III, who has honoured Sally with the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of her exceptional contributions to humanitarian assistance along the Thailand/Myanmar border.
For over three decades, Sally Thompson worked to provide aid for displaced populations from Myanmar. In receiving this prestigious award, Sally acknowledges that this work would not be possible without the tireless efforts and contributions of the numerous local civil society organizations that have played an instrumental role in providing such aid. Sally also acknowledges the daily risks that aid workers have to in Myanmar, “I am honoured to accept the award in recognition of TBC staff and all our local partners who risk everything to support their displaced communities under constant threat and attacks by the Burmese military junta on an unprecedented scale,” she said.
This recognition is a testament to Sally Thompson’s unwavering commitment to refugees, as well as the collective resilience of those who strive to make a difference in the face of adversity. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sally and numerous local civil society organizations she has worked alongside.
